How A Roofing Contractor Can Help Maximize Your Roofing Claim

How A Roofing Contractor Can Help Maximize Your Roofing Claim

You’ve been paying for your home insurance premium for as long as you have owned your home or business. After a storm, you need the best roofing help you can get. Experts in storm damage can bring your roof back to peak condition and protect your home. Target Roofing is here to help you through this process.

Filing A Claim

After a storm has hit the first step a homeowner should take is to assess the visible damages to the property affected. Damages may include fallen trees or branches on your home, missing shingles, broken windows, leaks, etc. Once you have seen these damages it would be best to call our team at Target Roofing, and we will send out an inspector to do a detailed inspection on the damages to your property. If damages are found we would recommend you call your insurance company and ask if they are covered under your policy. If so, you should file a claim with the insurance company and the adjuster will be in contact to set an appointment to inspect the property as well.

Adjuster Meeting

It is important to let us know the time/day that the adjuster is coming out. This allows us to show the adjuster all the damages that we found to the property. If the adjuster finds justifiable damage caused by a storm, he will be writing an estimate for the damages. It is not uncommon for an insurance adjuster to miss damages to the property on the first inspection. These damages will also be left out of the estimate for the claim.

Verifiable Payments

The insurance company will be either directly depositing an amount of funds, or mailing a check to the address filed with them. If your mortgage company is listed on the check, you will need to send it to the mortgage company so they can endorse the check. They mail it back, and at that point you may deposit it. The amount of the first check is solely determined by the age of your roof. This is what we call depreciation. The insurance company will depreciate the full amount of the claim in order to ensure you will get all the work done. In other words, if your roof is older, the insurance company will withhold money until the work is done. Then there is the deductible. This is the only part you as a homeowner are responsible to pay. The deductible is always paid to the contractor. Most insurance companies require proof of payment in order to release the full amount of funds.

Covering The Cost Of Damages

The insurance adjuster will always provide an estimate for the cost to fix the damages. Once you receive the estimate, you should always send it to your contractor from Target Roofing. This allows us to review the estimate and make sure the estimate has all the damages in it, and that the amount for the damages is sufficient to cover the cost. You as a homeowner should never have to worry about getting multiple estimates. Think of it like this, if you went to the doctor and had an emergency surgery done that was covered by your health insurance, the only thing you would worry about is that you will be taken care of by the best of the best. Insurance will always cover the cost for the best of the best or contractor of your choosing. Why cheap out?

What’s Next?

Once we have reviewed the insurance estimate and made the necessary changes, if any, then the next step would be coordinating with the adjuster and getting the revisions, (or as we call supplemental items) added into the claim. Once the claim estimate is sufficient enough to get all the damages fixed, then you may start with the work portion. Our team documents all the work being done throughout the work stage, and sends and hidden damages directly to you, as well as the adjuster. We strive to get all hidden damages paid for through the insurance company. In some cases, these damages just aren’t covered under certain policies.

Kick Back and Relax

Once all work is completed and all necessary documents are sent into your insurance company along with an invoice, the insurance company will review the claim, then can approve it and send out the funds to cover your roof. Our team helps you take the guesswork out of getting your insurance claim and completing your roof repair project.
