How A Roofing Contractor Can Help Maximize Your Roofing Claim

You have been paying for your home insurance premium for as long as you have owned your home or business. When a storm or environmental damage threatens the quality of your roof, you want to maximize the amount you get for repairs or replacement. Your most important asset in this case is a knowledgable player on your side, you need the best roofing team you can get.

Experienced experts in storm damage can bring your roof back to peak condition, protect your home, and make sure you maximize your claim. We’re proud to say that at Target Roofing, we have an outstanding record in all three. We are here to help you through the process.

Filing A Claim

After a storm has hit, the first step a homeowner should take is assessing the visible damage to the property affected. Damages may include fallen trees or branches on your home, missing shingles, broken windows, and leaks. Once you have noted these damages, it would be best to call our team at Target Roofing. We will send out an inspector to do a detailed inspection on the damages to your property with photos and more. If damage is found, we recommend that you call your insurance company to determine whether or not it is covered under your policy. If so, we will help you file a claim with the insurance company. What happens next is an appointment with an adjuster to inspect the property as well.

Adjuster Meeting

It is important to let us know the time and day that the adjuster is coming out to your property. We want to be there to show the adjuster all of the damages found to the property, so that nothing is overlooked. If the adjuster finds justifiable damage caused by a storm, he will be writing an estimate for the damages. We are present at this meeting to strongly advocate for you. It is not uncommon for an insurance adjuster to miss damages to the property on the first inspection. These damages would be left out of the estimate for the claim.

Verifiable Payments

The insurance company will be either directly depositing an amount of funds, or mailing a check to the address filed with them. If your mortgage company is listed on the check, you will need to send it to the mortgage company so they can endorse the check. They mail it back, and at that point you may deposit it. The amount of the first check is solely determined by the age of your roof. This is what we call, depreciation. The insurance company will depreciate the full amount of the claim in order to ensure you will get all of the determined work done. In other words, if your roof is older, the insurance company will withhold money until the work is completed. Then, there is the deductible amount. This is the only part you, as the homeowner, are responsible to pay. The deductible is always paid to the contractor. Most insurance companies require proof of payment in order to release the full amount of funds.

Covering The Cost Of Damages

The insurance adjuster will always provide an estimate with a detailed account of the cost to fix all of the determined damage. Once you receive the estimate, immediately send it to your contractor from Target Roofing. We will meticulously review the estimate and make sure that all damage is accounted for, and that the estimate amount is sufficient to cover the costs. You, as a homeowner, should never have to worry about getting multiple estimates. Think of it like this, if you went to the doctor and had an emergency surgery done that was covered by your health insurance, the only thing you would worry about is that you will be taken care of by the best of the best. Insurance will always cover the cost for the best of the best or contractor of your choosing. There is no reason to look for the cheapest deal! Go for quality.

What’s Next?

If we find any necessary changes after reviewing the estimate, the next step would be coordinating with the adjuster and getting the revisions (called supplemental items) added into the claim. Once the claim estimate is deemed sufficient to cover all of the repairs or replacement costs, then the roofing work can start. Our team diligently documents all of the work being done throughout the work stage. If we find and any hidden or underlying damage, we directly notify you and the adjuster. We strive to get all damage like that paid for through the insurance company. In some cases, unfortunately, hidden damages just aren’t covered under certain policies.

Kick Back and Relax

Once all work is completed, the necessary documents are sent in to your insurance company along with a roofing invoice from our company. The insurance company will then review the claim and go through their approval process to send out the funds to cover your roof.

Our goals are to help you take the guesswork out of the insurance claim process, and to do a high quality repair or replacement of your roof. Contact Target Roofing today to get started with a team of roofing contractors on your side every step of the way.
